This year\u2019s\u00a0Royal Variety Performance\u00a0received backlash online as fans criticised the annual bash.<\/p>\n

Britain\u2019s Got Talent\u00a0winner\u00a0Sydnie Christmas\u00a0couldn\u2019t avoid the fume of viewers with her performance being branded a \u201cletdown\u201d. The singer, 29, had bagged herself a performance slot on the glitzy event after her impressive win on the\u00a0ITV\u00a0talent contest earlier in the year. She\u00a0looked amazing\u00a0as she turned up in a shimmering silver sequin shoulder less and strapless dress.<\/p>\n

However, while her appearance was roundly praised, her performance wasn\u2019t offered the same luxury. Her impeccable version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz saw her take\u00a0home the \u00a3250,000 prize fund on BGT, but for the Royal Variety show, she opted to sing her own new song, Believer, from her debut album, My Way, which was released in October.<\/p>\n

One disgruntled\u00a0Twitter\/X user wrote following the performance: \u201cWhat a terrible song\u00a0Sydnie Christmas\u00a0sang. What a letdown after her performances on BGT. Apologies if it is a well-known song \u2013 I didn\u2019t know it.\u201d Another added: \u201cEeesh, that song wasn\u2019t right for her. Really didn\u2019t showcase her voice as well as the ones she performed on BGT,\u201d and a third said \u201cSydnie\u00a0Christmas\u00a0performance on Royal Variety justified her one week at position 71 before burning. Terrible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The view was echoed by others online, with another claiming: \u201cNot a great choice of song for Sydnie Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, despite the negative vibes from some, others were quick to praise the performance. One user gushed: \u201cForgot how amazing sydnie is\u2026 wow,\u201d while a second agreed, saying: \u201cI stand by Sydnie Christmas being one of the best Britain\u2019s Got Talent winners ever. THAT is what you call a performance fit for the #RoyalVarietyPerformance!\u201d<\/p>\n

Sydnie had earlier shared peeks of her performance on her Instagram Stories, showing her pride at the accolade. She also revealed the design behind her glam look which revealed the look \u201cfrom drawing\u201d to the end product.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere on the show, viewers\u00a0ripped into presenters Amanda Holden and Alan Carr.\u00a0The criticism of the duo also led to some fans pleading for a former presenter to return to hosting duties next time. In 2023, Bradley Walsh presented the charity event and viewers are yearning for him to return, with some going as far as calling him the \u201cperfect\u201d option. One user claimed: \u201cHonestly, who thought Alan Carr and\u00a0Amanda Holden\u00a0were the right choice for this? They might be great at other things but the Royal Variety Performance needs presenters with the right balance of class and charisma. Bradley Walsh would have been perfect for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n
