\u201cYellowstone\u201d creator\u00a0Taylor Sheridan\u00a0<\/strong>is going out with a bang as far as his wildly popular series is concerned\u2014even roping in\u00a0supermodel\u00a0<\/a>Bella Hadid<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for a cameo as his on-screen girlfriend in one of the final episodes of the\u00a0Kevin Costner<\/strong>-led hit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But while Sheridan, 54, is bidding farewell to \u201cYellowstone,\u201d his love of the rancher lifestyle might not be as easy to shake, particularly given that his passion for all things cowboy has turned into a property empire worth more than $600 million.<\/p>\n

The showrunner owns not one, but two\u00a0Texas<\/a>\u00a0ranches, and though they are located many miles away from\u00a0Montana<\/a>,\u00a0where \u201cYellowstone\u201d is set<\/a>, he managed to get them some screen time in the series, which is due to end on Dec. 15.<\/p>\n

Much of the filming for the series\u2014which focuses on the powerful Dutton family, led by patriarch John Dutton (Costner)\u2014took place on the Chief Joseph Ranch, a real-life\u00a0working cattle ranch<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0Darby, MT<\/a>. The ranch can be rented out for a taste of\u00a0the \u201cYellowstone\u201d lifestyle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Sheridan is said to have made a killing charging Paramount to use his ranches for filming\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>as a \u201ccowboy camp\u201d to train the show\u2019s actors.<\/p>\n

Per the\u00a0Wall Street Journal<\/a>, he charged the network $50,000 a week to use his properties as a set for the show, while the training camp reportedly cost Paramount an additional $214,979.<\/p>\n

Sheridan has stakes in two ranches in the\u00a0Texas<\/a>\u00a0area, one of which, the iconic Four Sixes Ranch, he bought as part of an investment group for an eye-watering $320 million in 2022. Back in 2013, he purchased Bosque Ranch for $264 million as a base for his family when they relocated to Texas from Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

He also has a role in the show itself, starring as horse trainer Travis Wheatle, the new on-screen love interest of Hadid\u2019s character.<\/p>\n

The social media star\u2019s turn on the show seems to be a consequence of her reported real-life romance with cowboy\u00a0Adan Banuelos<\/strong>, who also appears on the series. Hadid is no stranger to ranch life thanks to\u00a0her mom,\u00a0Yolanda Hadid<\/strong><\/a>, who recently showed off her own Texas horse ranch in a video for Architectural Digest.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether Sheridan will part ways with any of his ranch properties in the wake of \u201cYellowstone\u201d ending. However, his connection to that way of life will take a while to stamp out.<\/p>\n

Real-life cowboy<\/h2>\n

Sheridan, along with ruling an entire cowboy universe of shows, has an off-screen life as a cowboy, having grown up on a ranch in\u00a0Cranfills Gap, TX<\/a>. The formative experience has helped to shape his vision for the show, he said.<\/p>\n

Previously, Sheridan had been an actor on shows such as \u201cVeronica Mars\u201d and \u201cSons of Anarchy,\u201d during which time he and his family were based in Los Angeles. However, in a 2020 interview with\u00a0Cowboys and Indians magazine<\/a>, he admitted that he couldn\u2019t wait to leave L.A.<\/p>\n

He relocated \u201cthe second I could get out,\u201d he said. He and his wife decided to move to the Lone Star State in 2020, after having spent some time in her native\u00a0Wyoming<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife\u2019s from up in Wyoming and my mother lives up there, so we moved there for a number of years, until I finally convinced her to come try my home state. And I moved her to Texas on Aug. 1, because I figured I might as well just pull the Band-Aid off quick,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe didn\u2019t understand the heat for a bit, but then she figured it out, and now she\u2019s a Texan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ranch-o-rama<\/h2>\n

Together with his wife, actress-model\u00a0Nicole Muirbrook<\/strong>, and their son, he splits his time between two Texas ranches. The 600-acre\u00a0Bosque Ranch<\/a>, located in\u00a0Weatherford,<\/a>\u00a0is his home base and where he\u2019s mainly headquartered, he\u2019s said. Eagle-eyed fans will also notice scenes of the show shot on this property.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main headquarters where we live is more of a horse ranch, because I\u2019m pretty deep into the horse deal. And then the ranch out by Jacksboro is more where we run the cattle,\u201d he told Cowboys and Indians.<\/p>\n

However, the $264 million property is far from the most lavish ranch in his portfolio.<\/p>\n

Along with a group of investors, he owns the 266,000-acre\u00a0Four Sixes<\/a>\u00a0ranch, a cattle property. According to multiple reports, the group splashed out $320 million for the enterprise in 2022.<\/p>\n

The storied ranch was found by\u00a0Capt. Samuel \u201cBurk\u201d Burnett<\/strong>\u00a0in 1870, according to its\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the interview, he noted that he provides the horses that are showcased on the Western drama, but he declined to state the number of cattle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very fortunate in that I have some very nice Angus cattle. As far as my horses go, I supply most of the horses to \u2018Yellowstone,\u2019 my TV show,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd then I have horses that I show and breed. Right now, I\u2019ve got probably as many horses as I have cattle. And I have too many horses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bosque Ranch<\/h2>\n

The scenic surroundings of Bosque Ranch have stood in for scenes in \u201cYellowstone.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0website<\/a>, the property is \u201cnestled among quiet roads and the rolling hills above the Brazos River.\u201d The working ranch offers a range of activities, from horse competitions to TV shoots.<\/p>\n

\u201cSheridan plans to elevate operations by hosting reining and cow horse reining events, film and TV shoots, concerts, music festivals, charity events and an on-going unique dining experience,\u201d the website states.<\/p>\n

In addition, there\u2019s a watering hole for humans. Nic\u2019s Bar, which is named after his wife, is where \u201cpremiere members\u201d can head for drinks and more.<\/p>\n

Real-life Dutton Ranch<\/h2>\n

In addition to the Texas locales, \u201cYellowstone\u201d also shoots at a picturesque Montana ranch that\u2019s a working cattle property, which stands in for the Dutton family home.<\/p>\n

Chief Joseph Ranch sits in Montana\u2019s Bitterroot Valley and offers several cabins available to rent.<\/p>\n

Shane and Abigail Libel<\/strong>, who own and run the ranch, rent out the land and its cabins for production during the filming of the show. When filming wraps, it turns back into a working cattle ranch where the main lodge serves as the Libels\u2019 family home.<\/p>\n

The ranch, a five-hour drive from Yellowstone National Park, also has two cabins that can sleep up to eight people\u2014priced at $1,400 to $1,700 a night.<\/p>\n

Expanding his empire?<\/h2>\n

According to a report from\u00a0TMZ<\/a>, Sheridan might have increased his property portfolio with the addition of a $4.95 million ranch in Wyoming\u2019s Star Valley, which the outlet claims he purchased in September.<\/p>\n

The 179-acre ranch, which is known as Papa\u2019s Creek Ranch, boasts two trout streams, making it the ideal location for any eager fisherman.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is worth stating that both Papa\u2019s Creek and the Salt River are protected by Wyoming Stream access laws with no public access easements that often encumber other Salt River properties,\u201d the listing stated. \u201cThis unique scenario allows the landowner full control to enjoy and invest with the utmost confidence in these dynamic resources.\u201d<\/p>\n
