Yellowstone<\/strong><\/em>\u2018s series finale has set a new viewership record for the popular Taylor Sheridan show. First airing in 2018, the Paramount neo-Western series chronicles the lives of the Dutton family as they attempt to retain control of their ranch in Montana. After five popular seasons \u2013 and a great deal of drama involving John Dutton actor Kevin Coster, who did not return for season 5, part 2 \u2013 the\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0series finale\u00a0brought the show to a close on Sunday, December 15.<\/p>\n

When looking at social media engagement,\u00a0the second half of season 5 was also an improvement over its predecessor, with views up by 103% and engagement up by 68%<\/strong>. In total,\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u2018s series finale drew 575 million views on social media and 22 million engagements.16.4 million viewers tuned in for the\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0season 5, part 2, premiere and encore showings across eight cable networks, which represents a total bump of 3% over season 5, part 1.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear that, behind-the-scenes drama aside,\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0has been a massive hit for Paramount. The show\u2019s success has led to a variety of new Sheridan universe projects, both inside and outside the world of\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>. With the flagship show now at an end,\u00a0Sheridan\u2019s partnership with Paramount is not set to end anytime soon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Though not yet officially announced, Sheridan\u2019s\u00a0Lioness<\/em>\u00a0show seems likely to be renewed for season 3, and\u00a0Landman<\/em>\u00a0is currently in the midst of airing new episodes.\u00a01923<\/em>\u00a0season 2, which serves as a prequel to\u00a0Yellowstone,<\/em>\u00a0is set to premiere on February 23, 2025.\u00a0Another\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0spinoff called\u00a0The Madison<\/em>\u00a0is currently in the works<\/strong>, with that show set to star Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, and Beau Garrett.<\/p>\n

Finally,\u00a0the\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0series finale also sets up a sequel show<\/strong>\u00a0starring Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser).\u00a0Deadline<\/em>\u2018s reporting on the new show suggests other familiar faces from the\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0cast\u00a0could also appear in the project. It doesn\u2019t currently have a release date, but the world of Sheridan\u2019s neo-Western isn\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n
