Former\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0star Kevin Costner has shared his blunt reaction to the show\u2019s final season.\u00a0Costner famously left the hit Western show<\/strong>\u00a0in the middle of Season 5 to focus on his\u00a0Horizon: An American Saga<\/em>\u00a0films.<\/p>\n

Costner addressed the killing off his character John Dutton and the shocking final\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0episodes while speaking to\u00a0The Daily Mail. The actor and\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0executive producer was dismissive when asked if he had \u201cany thoughts\u201d about the show\u2019s swansong. \u201cI\u2019m not thinking about it. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve given it any thoughts. We\u2019ll just let it go,<\/strong>\u201d he said. Costner refused to address whether he was in touch with\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0co-star Luke Grimes following the latter\u2019s recent comments about filming the show following Costner\u2019s exit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve given it any thoughts. We\u2019ll just let it go.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Grimes recently spoke to\u00a0Esquire\u00a0about how\u00a0Costner\u2019s exit\u00a0impacted the cast, saying that season five was \u201cthe easiest season we\u2019ve filmed.\u201d \u201cHopefully everyone can see that it was time,\u201d Grimes said of Costner\u2019s\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0exit. \u201cTo be really honest, there was a part of Kevin being gone that meant some of the conflict was gone. Obviously, it didn\u2019t make it super fun to be around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0creator Taylor Sheridan made the controversial decision to kill off Costner\u2019s character John Dutton following a conflict over filming the hit show.\u00a0Costner previously accused\u00a0the\u00a0Yellowstone<\/em>\u00a0team of \u201cmoving their gaps\u201d between filming when he was supposed to be working on\u00a0Horizon: An American Saga<\/em>. \u201cI haven\u2019t felt good about it the last year, with the way they\u2019ve talked about it. It wasn\u2019t truthful. So now I\u2019m talking a little bit about what the real truth of it was,\u201d he said in May. It was ultimately announced that Costner wouldn\u2019t return at all to film the back-half of season five, leading to John Dutton being killed on screen with a scene that obscured that Costner wasn\u2019t really there for filming.<\/p>\n
