\u201cLandman\u201d star Billy Bob Thornton has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his work on the Fort Worth-filmed series.<\/p>\n

Nominations for the 82nd annual Golden Globes were announced early Monday, Dec. 9. Next year\u2019s ceremony is set for Jan. 5, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
Thornton was among the six nominated for best performance by a male actor in a drama television series. A Golden Globe nomination is nothing new for Thornton, who has seven career nods from the organization.<\/p>\n
His first nomination came in 1999 for the film \u201cA Simple Plan,\u201d with other nominations coming for films such as \u201cBandits,\u201d \u201cThe Man Who Wasn\u2019t There\u201d and \u201cBad Santa.\u201d Thornton has also won two Golden Globes for his work in \u201cFargo\u201d and \u201cGoliath.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thornton\u2019s \u201cLandman\u201d nomination was the sole entry for the Paramount+ series, which premiered on Nov. 17.<\/p>\n

The series is described as a \u201cmodern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs.\u201d Thornton\u2019s Tommy Norris serves as a crisis manager for a large oil company based in West Texas.<\/p>\n
In May, the Star-Telegram visited the Fort Worth set of \u201cLandman\u201d and spoke with Thornton about his role.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe character is a mix of me and [series creator Taylor Sheridan], frankly,\u201d Thornton said. \u201cThe scripts were brilliant and it wasn\u2019t like I had to make a decision. I read it and I\u2019m like, \u2018Absolutely.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
