Lady Gaga\u2019s team has now issued a statement following confirmation from police that they thwarted an attempted bomb attack at the concert.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On May 3,\u00a0Lady Gaga<\/a>\u00a0put on her biggest show ever at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro,\u00a0Brazil<\/a>, and it seemed to be a great success for the star.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0police<\/a>\u00a0later confirmed that there was a plot for a\u00a0\u2018bomb attack\u2019 targeting her fans.<\/a>\u00a0There were an estimated 2.1 million people in attendance at the show.<\/p>\n

Most shockingly, those behind it hoped to use minors to conduct the attack.<\/p>\n

In a post to\u00a0Twitter<\/a>, authorities said: “OPERATION FAKE MONSTER | The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice, prevented a bomb attack that was planned to occur at Lady Gaga’s show in Copacabana, South Zone RJ.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed that they had prevent a terrorist attack at the concert (Kevin Mazur\/WireImage for Live Nation)<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe person responsible for the plan was arrested, and a teenager was detained.”<\/p>\n

Working in coordination with the country’s justice ministry, the force said: “The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.”<\/p>\n

Thankfully, the bomb plot was discovered because of a tip off from Rio state police intelligence.<\/p>\n

However, a spokesperson for Lady Gaga confirmed that police did not inform the singer or her team about the plot at any point, despite working together to ahead of the performance.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter: \u201cWe learned about this alleged threat via media reports this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrior to and during the show, there were no known safety concerns, nor any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding any potential risks. Her team worked closely with law enforcement throughout the planning and execution of the concert and all parties were confident in the safety measures in place.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0message, Gaga didn\u2019t address the\u00a0terrorism<\/a>\u00a0plot, instead choosing to thank all of her fans for their support.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cNothing could prepare me for the feeling I had during last night\u2019s show\u2014the absolute pride and joy I felt singing for the people of Brazil. The sight of the crowd during my opening songs took my breath away.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour heart shines so bright, your culture is so vibrant and special, I hope you know how grateful I am to have shared this historical moment with you. An estimated 2.5 million people came to see me sing, the biggest crowd for any woman in history. I wish I could share this feeling with the whole world…<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you Rio for waiting for me to come back. Thank you little monsters all over the world. I love you. I will never forget this moment. Paws up little monsters. Obrigada. Love, Mother Monster.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
