The LSU vs. Kentucky gymnastics meet had been building all week as one of the most anticipated events of the season. The arena buzzed with excitement, fans packed into their seats, and the energy pulsed through the floor. LSU\u2019s star sophomore, Bryce Wilson, had already dazzled on the floor routine, earning a near-perfect score and drawing thunderous applause. The beam, however, was always her most nerve-wracking event\u2014and everyone knew it.<\/p>\n

Coach Langley gave her a reassuring nod as Bryce chalked her hands and climbed onto the 4-inch-wide apparatus. The spotlight cut through the air, illuminating her poised figure in LSU\u2019s signature purple and gold. She exhaled slowly, her body tense but focused.<\/p>\n

Bryce began with a perfect mount, then glided into a series of turns and leaps with grace and precision. The crowd grew silent, almost holding its breath with her. Then came her most difficult combination: a back handspring into a layout step-out. She\u2019d nailed it in practice dozens of times. But tonight, something went wrong.<\/p>\n

Her foot slipped. In an instant, her body twisted mid-air and she slammed down sideways across the beam before tumbling to the mat below.<\/p>\n

Gasps and screams echoed across the arena. The judges froze. Teammates rushed forward. Bryce lay still for a moment, blinking up at the ceiling, then clutched her side.<\/p>\n

Medics were at her side within seconds. She was conscious and speaking, but in visible pain. Her coach held her hand while they examined her ribs and shoulder.<\/p>\n

The meet paused. The entire crowd rose to their feet, clapping and chanting her name as she was carefully helped to the sideline bench. She waved weakly to the fans, her face pale but composed.<\/p>\n
